1. Acceptance of Terms

NextOath ("the Service") is a studio project of Alternate Thread, available at nextoath.ai. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

NextOath is a web-based multiplayer strategy game that uses artificial intelligence to facilitate collaborative world-building and competitive gameplay. The Service includes game creation, participation, and related features accessible through our website.

3. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information updated. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

4. User Conduct

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Submit content that is offensive, abusive, or violates the rights of others
Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service
Use automated means to access the Service without our permission
Impersonate another person or entity
Attempt to exploit game mechanics through automated tools or scripts

5. User Content & Generated Content

Your submissions.You retain ownership of the original content you author and submit through the Service — including your written world-building answers, prompt text, strategic action descriptions, chat messages, and other original narrative contributions ("Your Submissions").

Generated content.As you play, the Service uses artificial intelligence to transform inputs from all players into new game artifacts — including generated worlds, faction names, referee narration, campaign chronicles, world summaries, resolutions, generated images, gameplay screenshots, and composite game states ("Generated Content"). Generated Content is produced by the Service and is not a manuscript authored solely by any one player.

License you grant to NextOath. By using the Service, you grant NextOath a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, publicly display, and distribute Your Submissions and the Generated Content for the purposes of: operating, improving, and securing the Service; providing game history and community features; and promoting the Service. Promotional use includes press kits, social media, trailers, the NextOath website, and other marketing and showcase materials. This license expressly covers the modification, reproduction, public display, and distribution of that content. It does not transfer ownership of Your Submissions, and it survives termination of your account with respect to content already incorporated into completed games or already used in published materials.

Showcase.Compelling worlds, factions, chronicles, resolutions, and screenshots created during gameplay may be featured in NextOath community and promotional materials. We focus showcases on synthesized game artifacts rather than players' raw private submissions, and we take reasonable steps to avoid intentionally including personal information in showcased materials. If you have a concern about specific content being showcased, contact us at the email in Section 16 and we will consider removal requests in good faith.

No confidential information.Do not submit confidential, sensitive, or private information — your own or anyone else's — through the Service. This includes personal data, passwords, financial account details, and any material you are not free to share. Content you submit may be visible to other players in your game and may be incorporated into Generated Content as described above.

6. Reliance on AI-Generated Content

The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate game content including questions, narratives, referee commentary, and strategic outcomes. AI-generated content is provided for entertainment purposes and should not be relied upon for any other purpose.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, graphics, and AI systems, is owned by NextOath and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without our written permission.

8. Paid Features and Credits

NextOath may offer optional paid features, including credits and other virtual items (collectively, "Paid Features").

Paid Features are licensed to you, not sold, and grant a limited, revocable right to access and use certain features of the Service.

Credits are digital access units used to participate in gameplay within the Service. Credits:

Are used to enable or participate in games and related features
Are consumed upon use in gameplay
Have no cash value and are not currency or property
Are not redeemable for cash, refunds, or monetary value
Are not transferable, resellable, or exchangeable outside the Service
Do not represent or confer any ownership, investment interest, or stored monetary balance

You acknowledge that Credits are purchased as part of a digital service and not as a financial product, prepaid account, or stored-value instrument. Credits are purchased for immediate access to digital gameplay services.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue Paid Features at any time, including changes to pricing, credit requirements, availability, or functionality.

All purchases are final and non-refundable, except where required by applicable law. Applicable taxes may be added at the time of purchase based on your location.

If you delete your account, terminate your use of the Service, or your account is suspended or terminated, any unused Credits in your balance are forfeited. Credits are not refundable on account deletion or termination.

9. Community Coverage (Early Access Feature)

During early access, NextOath may provide limited, discretionary coverage of gameplay participation in situations where a user does not have sufficient credits to join or continue a game ("Community Coverage").

Community Coverage:

Is a platform-provided promotional feature, not a user-owned or shared pool
Is not funded, owned, or controlled by users
Does not create any entitlement, balance, or claim to funds or credits
Is limited, conditional, and not guaranteed
May be modified, restricted, or discontinued at any time without notice

Use of Community Coverage is subject to internal limits, fair use policies, and system availability.

10. No Gambling, Winnings, or Monetary Value

NextOath does not offer gambling, betting, sweepstakes, or any opportunity to win money or prizes.

All gameplay outcomes are for entertainment purposes only.

Credits and any in-game progress:

Have no monetary or real-world value
Do not represent a chance to win money or prizes
Cannot be redeemed, exchanged, or cashed out

Nothing in the Service constitutes a financial transaction, investment opportunity, or wagering activity.

11. Service Availability and Changes

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including features, content, pricing, and availability. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide notice of material changes that materially impact paid users.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

You may also delete your account at any time from your account settings. Account deletion is subject to a 30-day grace period during which you can sign back in and cancel the request. After the grace period elapses, your data is removed or anonymized as described in our Privacy Policy. Unused Credits are forfeited as set out in Section 8 above. Records we are legally required to retain — including payment and tax records, and moderation history where applicable — are kept for the applicable retention period and the link to your identity is anonymized.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NextOath shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
