How a world becomes a game

From Idea to a Playable Conflict

NextOath is a narrative strategy game played on an interactive map. Your group invents the world, leads rival factions, and every choice reshapes what comes next.

  1. Step 1 — Create a world together: a group answers questions that shape a strange setting.
  2. Step 2 — Take your side: the world becomes rival factions, advisors, and resources.
  3. Step 3 — Face a crisis: a Tide-Engine wakes beneath the ice and demands a decision.
  4. Step 4 — Ask your advisors: a council offers plans, warnings, and questionable confidence.
  5. Step 5 — Commit your action: you submit your plan, your rival submits theirs, and the round waits for everyone.
  6. Step 6 — The world remembers: actions collide on the map, and the next crisis grows from what happened.

Questions

Straight answers

What is NextOath?
An async multiplayer storytelling and strategy game. Your group builds a world together by answering a few big questions about it, then each of you leads a rival faction competing to shape that world's future. AI referees keep the game moving, judge what you write, and turn your decisions into the campaign's chronicle.
Is it free to try?
Yes. First Oath, the guided first game, is free and needs no account. Hosting a full game uses credits: one credit per seat, paid by the host, and everyone the host invites plays free. Credits don't expire.
How many players?
Two to four per game. Seats can be human or AI, so a solo player can face an AI rival, and a group of three can round out the table with one. Every player helps build the world and leads their own faction.
Do we have to be online at the same time?
No. Turns are asynchronous. Each round runs to a deadline the host picks, from one hour up to two weeks, with 24 hours as the default. Take your turn whenever life allows; nobody sits waiting at a table.
How long does a game take?
A full campaign is two world-building rounds and four strategy rounds. At the default pace that is about a week of light play. A group that takes its turns promptly finishes sooner, and on the fastest pace a whole campaign fits in an afternoon.
What does the AI actually do?
AI referees write the questions your world grows from, score your answers, voice the advisors who brief your faction, and narrate what your moves changed. The board itself resolves by fixed rules, so outcomes are deterministic and easy to read; the AI tells the story of them.
Where does it run?
In the browser, on desktop or phone. No download and nothing to install.
